Samuel Beckett’s classic play, Waiting for Godot, never makes more sense to me than in those moments, hours, and years, I spend waiting. When I was a child, I waited for Christmas to come. Now I wait for the bus, my pay cheque, my son’s arrival home from school, for things to improve in the arts community, for my life to work out- for meaning, for enlightenment, for love, for death. Beckett’s play with its endless cycle of hope and despair reflects both the profound and trivial state of anticipation which is such an integral part of the human condition.

Here we see an excerpt from the play. Estragon and Vladimir, a couple down on their luck, wait for the mysterious Godot. They are visited by another couple, the blustery Pozzo and his servant Lucky.
